But in return for good things may you abound with good, divine king of the Pelasgians. But benevolently send hither our father Danaus, of good courage, prudent, and our chief adviser. For his is the first counsel, where it behoves us to inhabit abodes, and [where is] a place not subject to envy. Every one is ready to speak reproach against foreigners: but may the best things befall.

O godlike chief, God grant my prayer:
Fair blessings on thy proffers fair,
Lord of Pelasgia's race!
Yet, of thy grace, unto our side
Send thou the man of courage tried,
1010
Of counsel deep and prudent thought,—
Be Danaus to his children brought;
For his it is to guide us well
And warn where it behoves to dwell—
What place shall guard and shelter us

From malice and tongues slanderous:
Swift always are the lips of blame
A stranger-maiden to defame—
But Fortune give us grace!

viertes Epeisodion: 1. Ak. d. W. 1888 II S. 347 f.

Hom. I 472 εὐερκέος αὐλῆς, Hesych.

Weil will deshalb hier ἔνθ᾽ ἔστιν ὑμῖν schreiben. — εὔτυκος hat hier die Bedeutung des Homerischen εὔτυκτος (vgl. Hesych. εὐτυκές· εὐεργές), nicht die gleiche wie 985 und 1005.
