Inter duas sibi respondentes strophas praeconis v. 805. 809. quae numero quintae totius carminis strophae sunt, mesodus est totius chori v. 806-808. drittes Epeisodion: 1. Danaos, welcher bisher auf dem Götteraltare stand und nach der Meerseite spähte (721), kündigt das Nahen der Ägyptischen Flotte an und gibt seine Absicht kund Hilfe zu holen. 2. In dem Kommos 742-769 drücken die Danaiden dem Vater ihre Angst aus, während dieser sie zu beruhigen sucht. 3. Danaos bleibt bei seinem Ent- schlusse in der Hoffnung vor dem Ausschiffen der ägyptischen Mann- schaft mit Hilfe zurückzukommen. (Der Dichter braucht eben den Schauspieler, welcher den Danaos gegeben hat, für den Herold der Ägyptiaden.)

Kommos. Jede Strophe und Antistrophe beginnt mit zwei Trimetern, welche, wie es scheint, der κορυφαῖος vorträgt, während die melische Partie der Chor singt. Jeder Strophe und Antistrophe folgen zwei Trimeter des Danaos.
