Aeschylus Supplices 678

Johann Jakob Christian Donner (Translator)

Nie zu der Männer Tod stürme Verderben her,
Welches, die Stadt zerfleischend,
Cither und Reigen haßt, thränengebärenden Krieg
Und Volksaufruhr zum Kampfe waffnet!
Fern vom Haupte der Bürger
650
Lag're feindlicher Seuchen
Schwarm; mild schüße des Phöbos Hand
Alle die Jugend des Landes!
Dritte Gegenstrophe.
