ἐρειψίτοιχοι, die Wände (Mauern) des Hauses zertrümmernd, πικράς: πικρός wird seit dem Homerischen πικρόγαμοι gern zur Bezeichnung einer tragischen Peri- petie gebraucht:,,was sie als Glück erstrebten, ward ihr Verderben". Vgl. Pers. 476 πικρὰν δὲ παῖς ἐμὸς τιμωρίαν κλεινῶν ᾿Αθηνῶν ηύρε.

καταρὰς (oder καταρὰν) δῆθ᾽ ἡ ist für κάρτα δ' ἀληθῆ gesetzt, da ἀληθῆ πατρός nicht als eine sprachlich richtige Ausdrucksweise erachtet werden kann. Vgl. das Schol. τῷ ὄντι ἡ τοῦ Οἰδίποδος Ἐρινὺς ἐτελείωσε τὰς ἐκείνου ἀρὰς κατὰ τῶν παίδων.
