Drittes Stasimon. Loblied auf Dareios, aus Anlaſs seiner vorausgegangenen Erschei- nung. Glück und Gröfse des per- sischen Reichs unter ihm. Seine Verdienste werden vor dem Auf- treten des Xerxes noch einmal ver- gegenwärtigt, des Kontrastes wegen. Zugleich erhalten so seine Rat- schläge (790 ff. 824 ff.) doppeltes Gewicht. Altertümlicher Charakter, epische Aufzählung, auch viele epi- sche Formen und Wendungen, so- wie das Maſs überwiegend dakty- lisch und altertümlich einfach, in der Weise des Stesichoros. Vgl. Begründung durch des Dareios kriegerische Tüchtig- keit. πρῶτα μὲν . . νόστοι δέ. Wir zeigten der Welt ruhmvolle Feldzüge d. i. führten sie vor deren Augen Augen aus. στρατιάς im Sinne von στρατείας. πολίσματα πύργινα, vgl. Eur. Bacch. 19 καλλιπυργώτους πόλεις. ἀνέρας (fehlt in den Handschriften) als episches Wort mit epischer Messung wie ἀνέρων Suppl. 426. - εὐ πράσσοντας: auch vom Skythenfeldzuge (Herod. VII 10, 1) und von Marathon (ib. VI 102 ff.)?
