Kommos, welcher die Vorgänge im Innern des Hauses gewissermafsen auf die Bühne verlegt, bestehend aus drei Teilen. Im ersten Teile (1056-1100), welcher die Vorbereitung der blutigen That beschreibt, spricht der Chor (d. i. Chorführer) nur in Trimetern, während die Partieen der Kasandra melisch sind. zweiter Teil: Ausführung der That (da Visionen der Seherin die Vorgänge im Innern des Hauses verkünden, darf es nicht befremden, dafs erst 1342 der Weheruf des getroffenen Agamemnon erschallt). Die Trimeter scheint der Chorführer, die melische Partie der Gesamtchor vorzutragen.

„Zum Herzen dringt der Blutstropfen, der, an eine gefährliche Stelle treffend, ans Ziel kommt mit den Strahlen des untergehenden Lebens; schnell aber schreitet das Verderben" d. h. „vor Entsetzen dringt das Blut mir zum Herzen zurück so, wie es unter Umständen plötzlichen Tod (Herzschlag) zur Folge hat." Wir sagen „die Angst will mir das Herz abdrücken" oder ,,ich meine, das Herz muſs mir springen".
