Andrerseits läfst Herodot VII 8, 2 durch Xerxes den Athenern vorwerfen, daſs sie ἐς Σάρδις ἐλθόντες ἐνέπρησαν τά τε ἄλσεα καὶ τὰ ἱρά. Vgl. VI 101: τὰ ἱρὰ συλήσαντες ἐνέπρησαν, ἀπο- τινύμενοι τῶν ἐν Σάρδισι κατακαυ- θέντων ἱρῶν. – 811 Ag. 527. — Für das viele Schlimme, das sie an- gerichtet, leiden sie u. s. w. δρά- σαντες πάσχουσι vgl. Ag. 1564 (u. 1527).
