1. 69) Schon 480 v. Chr., wo sie nächst Athen die größte Seemacht hatten,
sind 60 Schiffe nur ein Theil ihrer Flotte, Herod. VII, IK3. (Kr.) Die
erste Veranlassung zu einer so bedeutenden Kriegsflotte waren wohl die Kämpfe,
die sie anfangs mit den liburnifchen Seeräubern zu bestehen hatten, die sich von
den dalmatinischen Küsten her bereits auf den jonischen Inseln festgesetzt hatten
und erst aus diesen Gewässern wieder verjagt werden mußten.
2. 69*) Wie Epidamnos, waren auch Apollonia, Leukas, Anaktorion und
Amprakia korinthische Kolonien am Ionischen Meere.
