Der inneren Erregung, welche durch die unerhörte Frechheit hervorgerufen wird, entspricht der Wechsel des Versmafses. Der Vortragende scheint nicht zu wechseln, also der Koryphaios das Strophenpaar zu singen.
„Du musst ein Giftkraut von der Erde oder (wahnsinnig machendes) Wasser vom Meere zu dir genommen haben, dafs du solche Tobsucht ( θύος wie θύουσαν 1234) und die Flüche des Volkes über dich gebracht hast. Ja weggeschleudert, abgetrennt (von sich) hat dich der Hafs der Bürger." Vgl. Hom. X 94 βεβρωκώς κακὰ φάρμακ᾽, ἔδυ δέ τέ μιν χόλος αἰνός. Das Asyndeton ἀπέδικέ σ' wie an der gleichen Stelle der Antistrophe.
