Vgl. ξενικόν abgelaufen: das Volk hat sich durch die geschickten Wendungen der Rede (des Königs) überreden lassen; möge nunmehr Zeus alles zu gutem Ende führen" ( ἐπικράναι für Enéngavev Dindorf, Hermann κράνειεν). εὐπιθεῖς aktivisch wie Ag. 286 ὀνείρων φάσματ᾽ εὐπιθῆ κ. a. Ohne Not Bothe sunions. Der Ge- danke δημηγόρους.. εὐπιθεῖς στροφάς kennzeichnet ebenso wie V. 783 das Interesse für eine wohlgesetzte Rede, das Interesse für Rhetorik vor dem Aufkommen der rhetorischen Theorie. ἐπικράναι wie ἀπο- τρолý ν Рers. 220; wegen der Optativ- form vgl. κενώσαι 668, αἱματίσαι 670. Danaos steigt während des folgen- den Chorgesangs auf den Altar, um nach der Seeseite zu spähen (vgl. 721).
