Exodos (in ursprüng- licher Weise ein Chorgesang). Der Anfang kennzeichnet den Gesang als Abzugslied; aber durch die Teilnahme der Dienerinnen, welche für die Rechte der Aphrodite ein- treten (etwa wie der Diener im Anfang des Euripideischen Hippo- lytos), wird auf einen späteren Kon- flikt und auf die folgende Hand- lung der Trilogie hingewiesen. Das erste Strophenpaar gehört dem Hauptchor der Danaiden, das zweite dem Nebenchor der Dienerinnen (988, 1033). Im dritten wechseln die beiden Chöre (wahr- scheinlich die beiden κορυφαῖοι) miteinander ab; das letzte Strophen- paar singen die beiden Chöre vereint.

ἴτε μάν, nun aber ziehet hin", vgl. ἄνα γε μάν Cho. 961. ἀστυάνακτας πολιούχους τε καὶ οι κτἑ., die Götter der Stadt, der Burg und des Landes. Vgl. Ag. 88 πάντων δὲ θεῶν τῶν ἀστυνόμων, ὑπάτων χθονίων, τῶν τε θυραίων τῶν τ᾿ ἀγοραίων. γαναέντες (in der Handschrift γανάεντες), „feiernd". Diese Form setzt eine unbekannte Form γανάημι voraus. Vgl. δαέντες, ἀέντες. Pauw hat dafür γανάοντες gesetzt. Bei Homer finden sich die Formen γανόωντες ( γανάοντες), γανόωσαι ( γανάουσαι) im Sinne von glänzend, prangend. Hesych. bietet γανεῖν· λευκαίνειν und γανάσσαι· σμῆξαι, ἡδῦναι. Die Maskulinform kann stehen, weil auch Männer im Zuge sind, Danaos und seine Leib- wache.
