ἡ ἀλόγιστος τόλμα
—‘the reckless venture,’ in con trast with the
ἀρχὴ τῆς ἐπιβουλῆς which had been carefully planned. With this only goes
ἐκ τοῦ παραχρῆμα περιδεοῦς: it was only the reckless venture ‘which arose out of the sudden alarm’ that the conspiracy had been revealed.
