zweites Epeisodion. Die Ausführung der Rache wird auf listige Weise vorbereitet. Orestes kommt mit Pylades von der linken Seite und pocht an das Thor des Hauses. Beide haben mittlerweile sich als Gepäck tragende Wanderer (671) verkleidet.

Der Chorführer spricht, da er die Thüre gehen hört, von Orestes als dem fremden Wanderer und sagt zweideutig τεύχειν κακόν, welches sich auf die Trauerbotschaft beziehen kann. Vgl. die Nachahmung in Soph. Εl. 1324 f. εἴσιτ᾽, ὦ ξένοι, ἄλλως τε καὶ φέροντες, οἱ ἂν οὔτε τις δόμων ἀπώσαιτ᾽ οὔτ᾽ ἂν ἡσθείη λαβών.
