Kommos, welcher den Rächer weckt (vgl. 326 f.) und die Motive der Handlung entwickelt zur Ermutigung und Stärkung des Orestes (510 ἐπειδὴ δρᾶν κατώρθωσαι φρενί). Derselbe wird durch eine anapästische Partie des Koryphaios eingeleitet und durch eine solche geschlossen und besteht aufserdem aus vier Teilen. Die erste Partie (314-421) zerfällt durch ein anapästisches System des Koryphaios (371-378) in zwei symmetrische Teile, deren Mitte wieder anapästische Systeme des Chorführers einnehmen, die sich entsprechen (339 - 343 = 399 - 403), während zu beiden Seiten eine Strophe des Orestes und eine Antistrophe der Elektra stehen, die auf der einen Seite durch eine Strophe, auf der anderen durch eine Antistrophe des Chors getrennt werden. ,,Und wann wird des Zeus' Arm auf sie dreinfahren und ihnen das Haupt spalten?" d. i.,,o dafs doch endlich u. s. w.", wie besonders πῶς ἄν häufig zum Ausdruck des Wunsches dient (Krüger II § 54, 3, 6). ἀμφιθαλής erklärt der Schol. ὁ ποιήσων ἄμφω ἡμᾶς ἀναθηλῆσαι, kaum denkbar. Von beiden Seiten umblüht" bezieht sich wohl auf den flammenden Blitz: -,,rings umflammt". Über das Partic. Aor. δαΐξας, welches die mit ἐπιβάλοι zusammenfallende Handlung des Augenblicks ausdrückt, vgl. Krüger I § 53,6,8, Koch 101 Anm. 1. Elektra zeigt schon bei Äschylos leidenschaftlich erregtes und thatkräftiges, Orestes ängstliches und zögerndes Wesen. Vgl. Einl. S. 24 f.
