Kommos, welcher den Rächer weckt (vgl. 326 f.) und die Motive der Handlung entwickelt zur Ermutigung und Stärkung des Orestes (510 ἐπειδὴ δρᾶν κατώρθωσαι φρενί). Derselbe wird durch eine anapästische Partie des Koryphaios eingeleitet und durch eine solche geschlossen und besteht aufserdem aus vier Teilen. Die erste Partie (314-421) zerfällt durch ein anapästisches System des Koryphaios (371-378) in zwei symmetrische Teile, deren Mitte wieder anapästische Systeme des Chorführers einnehmen, die sich entsprechen (339 - 343 = 399 - 403), während zu beiden Seiten eine Strophe des Orestes und eine Antistrophe der Elektra stehen, die auf der einen Seite durch eine Strophe, auf der anderen durch eine Antistrophe des Chors getrennt werden. Die Form des Ganzen ist also folgende: Or. Cho. El. Kor. Or. Cho, El. Kor. Or. Cho. El. Kor. Or. Cho. El.

ἔμματος ist ein medizinicher Ausdruck wie ἄκος, denn μότα τὰ ἐπιτιθέμενα τοῖς κοίλοις τραύμασιν ὀθόνια πρὸς ἀναπλήρωσιν τῆς σαρκός Schol. zu Hom. Δ 440. Wie Charpie als Linderung zwischen den Wunden liegt, so liegt die Heilung dieses Schlages im Hause und kann nur von einem Mitglied der Familie (Orestes) ausgeben, durch wilden blutigen Streit erfolgend. Zu ἔριν αἱματηράν vgl. δι᾽ ἔριν αἱματόεσσαν Ag. 701 .
