1. Herodotus, i. 30. Plutarch, Life of Solon, chap xxviii. (p. 94 C), represents Aesop as being present on this occasion.
2. No. 159 in the collection of fables that passes under the name of Aesop; repeated also by Plutarch, Moralia, 500 C.
