LXXVI. [1] The sedition standing in these terms, the fourth or fifth day after the putting over of these men into the island arrived the Peloponnesian fleet from Cyllene, where since their voyage of Ionia they had lain at anchor, to the number of three and fifty sail. Der Glaube an meine Sendung wäre dahin¹ , man argwohnte nur Böses in der Freiheit, die ich bringe² , oder sähe in meinem Heere einen zu schwachen und nichtssagenden Schutz gegen Athens drohende Rache. Zwar es war dasselbe Heer, mit dem ich vor Nisäa zog, wo die Athener trotz ihrer Uebermacht keinen Angriff wagten, und ein so zahlreiches Heer wie das nisäische würden sie ohnehin in keinem Fall gegen euch über's Meer schicken.³

Κυλλήνης —c. 69. For

ἐφ’ ὅρμῳ οὖσαι we say ‘which had lain at anchor’ (at Cyllene), οὖσαι being imperf. partic. ( MT. § 140). The MSS. have ἔφορμοι for ἐφ· ὅρμῳ, but there seems to be no authority for ἔφορμος as adj. ἐπέπλει—ἐπιπλεῖν is used of the commanders: ἐμπλεῖν below of the crcw.
