Notes on the current edition

History of the Peloponnesian War

1.
Olympiade 88 (428 av. J. C.).

Commentary

Commentary on Thucydides: Book 3 (Thucydides, Book III. Marchant, Edgar C., editor. London: Macmillan and Company, 1909.) focus

Δωριεύς —a Rhodian athlete, who won prodigious fame and became the typical Olympic victor. He was son of the Diagoras for whom Pindar wrote the seventh Olympian. Besides three Olympian victories he won many at the Isthmian and Nemean games. (References to his career: VIII. 35, Xen. Hell. I. 5, Pausan. II. 7. )
