Nicolaus Perottus in the Cornucopia (p. 200, 26 in the Aldine Edition of 1513): Cosmus too was a superb perfumer, and ointments are called Cosmian after him. The same writer (Juvenal 8, 86) says,
and let him be plunged deep in a bronze vase of Cosmus.
Petronius,
Bring us, he said, an alabaster box of Cosmus ointment.
