1. 20 τοῦτο λέγει, ἐπειδὴ μυθεύονται, ὡς ἄρα αἱ φαρμακίδες τὴν σελήνην κατασπῶσι ταῖς ἐπῳδαῖς. καὶ μάλιστα δοκοῦσι τοῦτο ποιεῖν αἱ Θετταλαί, ὡς καὶ Ἀριστοφάνης (Nub. 749 sq.)· ‘γυναῖκα φαρμακίδα πριάμενος Θετταλὴν νύκτωρ τὴν σελήνην καθέλοιμι δι’ αὐτῆς’ ceteris praetermissis A. cf. W 30
2. 20 This he says, since it is told that sorceresses draw down the moon with their spells. And especially the Thessalian women are thought to do this, as also Aristophanes (Nub. 749 sq.): 'having bought a Thessalian sorceress woman, I would draw down the moon at night through her' with the rest omitted in A. cf.
