Notes on the current edition

Scholia on Book 1 of Apollonius' Argonautica

1. 12 Et. Gen. (AB) αὐτόγυον post verba ad sch. A) 〈πηκτόν Et. AB K 353 Poll. I 252 Hesych. πηκτὸν ἄροτρον Procl. Hes. Op. 423. Tzetz. ib. 427. 432
2. 12 Etymologicum Genuinum (AB) αὐτόγυον after the words quoted at sch. 233/34b: "αὐτόγυον δέ: there are two kinds of ploughs. And the one is called πηκτόν, the other αὐτόγυον: the one that has its share-beam from a joining of timbers is called 〈πηκτόν〉; the one that has its share-beam from a single timber is called αὐτόγυον. The share-beam is a piece of wood into which the iron ploughshare is fitted and cleaves the earth. What the ploughman holds is called the handle. The small piece of wood passed through the share-beam, into which the handle is set, is the ἀλύη. The timber extending from this to the oxen is the γύης, and the part from the γύης to the yoke is the ἱστοβοεύς; and the parts of the yoke placed on the necks of the oxen some call ζεύγλαι, others βοεῖαι, others μέσσαβα. Thus I found a scholium on the Argonautica." cf. W 71 sch. AB K 353 Poll. I 252 Hesych. πηκτὸν ἄροτρον Procl. Hes. Op. 423. Tzetz. ib. 427. 432
3. 1 lac. ind. W, cf. Et. Gen. post ἐντίθεται A ceteris omissis add.
4. 1 lacuna indicated by W, cf. Et. Gen.; after ἐντίθεται A, with the rest omitted, adds: "αὐτόγυον δέ ἐστι τὸ ἐξ ἑνὸς ξύλου κατεσκευασμένον"
