1. 10 Et. Gen. (AB) Πιτύεια: ἔστιν ἄκρον περὶ (παρὰ A) τὴν Λάμψακον. καὶ Πιτύεια πρότερον ἡ Λάμψακος ἐκαλεῖτο διὰ τὸ ἔχειν πίτυς πολλάς. Ἀπολλώνιος I 933. Steph. Byz. Λάμψακος: πόλις κατὰ τὴν Προποντίδα ... πάλαι Πιτύουσα λεγομένη, ὡς Δηίοχος ὁ Κυζικηνός (fg 10 M. II 19). 2. 10 Etymologicum Genuinum (AB) Πιτύεια: it is a headland near (παρὰ in A) Lampsacus. And Pityeia was formerly called Lampsacus because it had many pines. Apollonius I 933. Stephanus of Byzantium Λάμψακος: a city on the Propontis ... formerly called Pityousa, as Deiochus of Cyzicus (fg 10 M. II 19).
