[1] Now the faith which is in Christ confirms all¹ these things, for he himself through his Holy Spirit calls us thus:— Come, Children, hearken to me, I will teach you the fear of the Lord.

[2] Who is the man that desireth life, that loveth to see good days?

[3] Make thy tongue cease from evil, and thy lips that they speak no guile.

[4] Depart from evil, and do good.

[5] Seek peace, and pursue it.

[6] The eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous, and his ears are open to their petition; but the face of the Lord is against those that do evil, to destroy the memory of them from off the earth.

[7] The righteous cried, and the Lord heard him, and delivered him out of all his afflictions.²

[8] Many are the scourges of the sinner, but mercy shall encompass those that hope on the Lord.

[2] τίς ἐστιν ἄνθρωπος ὁ θέλων ζωήν, ἀγαπῶν ἡμέρας ἰδεῖν ἀγαθάς ;
