[13] This man had a son Hicetas, and Hicetas had a son Aristocrates (Aristokrates) the second, named after his grandfather and also meeting with a death like his. For he too was stoned by the Arcadians, who discovered that he had received bribes from Lacedaemon, and that the Messenian disaster at the Great Ditch was caused by the treachery of Aristocrates (Aristokrates). This sin explains why the kingship was taken from the whole house of Kypselos.
