[5] Of Pylos in the land of Elis the ruins are to be seen on the mountain road from Olympia to Elis, the distance between Elis and Pylos being eighty stadium-lengths. This Pylos was founded, as I have already said,

by a Megarian called Pylon, the son of Kleson. Destroyed by Hēraklēs and refounded by the Eleians, the city was doomed in time to be without inhabitants. Beside it, the river Ladon flows into the Peneios.
