[6] The Euboeans of Karystos too set up in the sanctuary of Apollo a bronze ox, from spoils taken in the Persian War. The people of Karystos and the Plataeans dedicated oxen, I believe, because, having repulsed the barbarian, they had won a secure prosperity, and especially a land free to plough. The Aetolian nation, having subdued their neighbors the Acarnanians, sent statues of generals and images of Apollo and Artemis.
