Notes on the current edition

Geography

1. Cp. 8. 3. 30.
2. According to Paus. 5.8.2 the games were discontinued after the reign of Oxylus and “renewed” by Iphitus.
3. So Hdt. 6.127
4. The correct distance from Cape Araxus, which was in Eleia (8. 3. 4), to the Neda River is about 700 stadia. And C. Müller seems to be right in emending the 1200 to 670, since 670 corresponds closely to other measurements given by Strabo (8. 2. 1, 8. 3. 12, 21). See also Curtius, Peloponnesos, vol. ii, p. 93.
