Geography

1. For another version of the story of Zamolxis, see Hdt. 4.94-96 , who doubts whether such a man ever existed, but says that he was reputed to have been, for a time, a slave pf Pythagoras in Samos.
2. The “cavernous place” previously referred to.
3. Some scholars identify this mountain with what is now Mt. Gogany (near Mika); others, with Mt. Kaszon (on the borders of Transylvania and Moldavia). The former is more likely.
4. Strabo also spells the name “Boerebistas (7. 3. 11, 12).
