Διαφέρει δὲ καθ᾿ ὅλα τὰ γένη τὶ διήρημένα τῶν γενῶν, οἷον σῖτος χεδροπὰ τὰ θερινά, καὶ καθ᾿ ἕκαστον γένος τὶ ὁμογενῆ. τὶ μὲν γὰρ σιτώδη τὸ φύλλον ἔχει καλάμου, τῶν δὲ χεδροπῶν ¹² τὰ μὲν περιφερές, οἷον ὁ κύαμος καὶ σχεδὸν τὰ πλεῖστα, τὰ δὲ προμηκέστερον, οἷον ὁ πισὸς καὶ ὁ λάθυρος καὶ ὁ ὦχρος καὶ τὰ τοιαῦτα. καὶ τὰ μὲν ἰνώδη τὰ δ᾿ ἄφλεβα καὶ ἄϊνα. τὸ δὲ σήσαμον καὶ τὸ ἐρύσιμον ἰδιώτερα παρὰ ταῦτα.
