1. ¹ τῶν ἄλλων ἦν MSS.; τῶν ποιωδῶν conj. W. ἦν, at all events, cannot be right. ² Plin. 19. 100.
2. 3 ἢ στενότητι ἢ κοιλότητι : so G ; ἢ κοιλότητι ἢ στενότητι MSS. ⁴ i. e. petiolate. 5 i. e. sessile.
3. 6 i. e. compound: εἰ δὴ conj. W.; εἴδη UMV Ald.
4. 7 The passage from here to the end of the chapter is a digression.
