1. Aenesidemus, tyrant of Leontini, being anticipated by Gelon, tyrant of Syracuse , in the enslavement of a neighboring state, sent him the cottabus prize, as a compliment for having played the game so skilfully. The cottabus was originally a Sicilian game.
