erstes Epeisodion. 1. Szene (182—239): Danaos und der Koryphaios. Danaos kündigt das Nahen des Königs an und gibt seinen Töchtern Verhaltungsmaß- regeln. 2. Szene (240 - 349): Pelas- gos und die Vorigen. Die Danaiden erklären ihre Herkunft von Argos und erflehen als ungerecht Ver- folgte den Schutz des Argivischen Königs. Dieser ist bedenklich wegen der schweren Folgen, welche die Zusage des Schutzes für sein Land haben kann. 3. Kommos (350-422): Fortsetzung der Bitte. 4. Chorikon (423-446), welches das Nachsinnen des Königs zu Gunsten der Da- naiden zu wenden sucht. 5. Dialog des Königs, des Koryphaios und des Danaos (447-532): Der König offenbart seinen Entschluß die Entscheidung dem Volke anheim- zugeben.

ἤκουσα, nämlich αἰδοίους λόγους λέγοις ἄν, nämlich τέρ- ματα: „Ich habe schon gehört und will weiter hören". Passend ver- mutet Stadtmüller ἀκουστά, vgl. Anecd. Bekk. S. 373, 6 ἀκουστά. ὡς < Σοφοκλῆς> ἐν τῇ Κρεούσῃ ἄπελθ᾽ ἄπελθε, και· τάδ᾽ οὐκ ἀκουστά“ καὶ Εὐριπίδης δὲ πολλάκις· ὁ μέντοι Σοφοκλῆς < καὶ> ἀκούσιμα φησί. Hartung dachte an ἀκούσομαι, λέγοις ἄν, worin ἀκούσομαι kausal τι λέγοις a stehen würde ( ἀκούσο- μαι γάρ).

στρόφος ist das Brustband der Frauen, strophium, fascia. Vgl. zu Sieb. 857 δυσαδελφόταται πασῶν ὁπόσαι στρόφον ἐσθῆσιν περι- βάλλονται. Hesych. ζώνας τε συλ λαβὰς πέπλων· ἀντὶ τοῦ αἷς ζώννυ- μαι καὶ τοὺς πέπλους συλλαμβάνω stammt aus einer Erklärung zu unserer Stelle, in welcher es ur- sprünglich τὰς στροφάς αἷς ζώννυ- μαι κτέ. hies. Aber unter ζῶναι sind eigene Gürtel zu verstehen.

τάχ᾽ ἂν für τύχαν Marck- scheffel. Wenn nicht γυναιξίν zu schreiben und γυναικῶν unter der Einwirkung von τύχαν entstanden ist, so muß man den Gen. aus der Analogie von ίδιος, οἰκεῖος, συγγενής ableiten.
