Notes on the current edition

Epinomis

1. i.e. our birth and death are alike under divine influence, and this means that they are governed by number—a Pythagorean argument.
2. The meaning obviously required— shape or phase—cannot be extracted from ἡμέραν, which is probably a copyist’s error for ἰδέαν.
3. This seems to mean that the fifteen days from the new moon to the full moon give the basis for summing her whole thirty days’ course—fifteen to the full, and fifteen back.
