Alcibiades 2

1. i.e., that I should answer offhand. The pun in μάργον, alluding to the fatuous Margites, cannot be rendered in English.
2. Plat. Alc. 2.142d .
3. Plat. Alc. 2.143d .
4. This seems to be the meaning of the Greek, which is certainly not Platonic. In Aristot. Phys. 4.13.5 ὁ παρήκων χρόνος means past time.
5. An Ethiopian god whose cult spread over Egypt , and through Cyrene to various parts of Greece : he had temples at Thebes and Sparta , but the famous one in the Libyan desert is probably meant here.
