Against Demosthenes

1. The facts are here distorted. Ephialtes, one of the orators whose surrender was demanded by Alexander in 335 B.C. ( Arr. 1.104 ), was a supporter of Demosthenes and, according to the Pseudo-Plutarch, brought back money for the demagogues from the Persian court ( Plut. Vit. Dem. 847 F and 848 E). He was killed while helping the Persians to defend Halicarnassus against Alexander ( Dio. Sic. 17.27 ).
2. No details are known of Euthydicus. He seems to be mentioned as an Athenian patriot together with Ephialtes and Lycurgus in the third letter of Demosthenes ( Dem. L 3.31 ), where however the MSS. have Εὔδιλκον.
