On the Choreutes

1. Scheibe conjectured ἐν Διιπολείοις for ἐν τῇ πόλει, on the ground that Harpocration quotes the word Diipoleia as occurring in this speech. The Diipoleia (cf. Antiph. 2.4 ) was an ancient festival celebrated annually in the first week of June on the Acropolis in honor of Zeus Polieus. Its date would suit the context; but the fact that the last part of the speech is apparently incomplete makes it possible that Harpocration is quoting from some lost passage.
