[11] καὶ μὴν ὅ γε προτρεπτικὸς λόγος τοῦ πατρὸς ἀνάγκην ἐπιτίθησιν οὐδεμίαν, ἵνα ἐθελουργὸς καὶ αὐτοκέλευστος ἐπιτηδεύῃς τὰ βελτίω, φησὶ γάρ· „πορευθεὶς ἴδε,“ θέασαι καὶ ¹ κατανόησον καὶ πάνυ ἀκριβῶς περίσκεψαι τὸ πρᾶγμα· εἰδέναι γάρ σε δεῖ περὶ ὃ μέλλεις πονεῖσθαι πρότερον, εἶτ’ αὖθις ἐπὶ τὴν ἐπιμέλειαν αὐτοῦ χωρεῖν.
