Ist es verstattet, dich, nächtliche Göttin, und
Dich im Gebet zu feiern,
1540
König der Schattenwelt, 1
Aidoneus, Aidoneus, hört uns fleh'n!
Ohne Schmerz, ohne Gestöhn der Angst,
Laßt den verscheidenden Gast
Zur allverbergenden düstern Flur
1545

Ein gerechter Gott ihn.
Gegenstrophe.

1536-1537. mvp-comment-818-1 θεοὶ γὰρ .. τραπῇ For the Gods mark well, although they visit late, when men abandon reverence and become infatuated. This also has reference to Thebes.
