Touching our purpose, say it ; I attend

The man inhabits here: I know it now.
40
And sure he’s not far off. How can he range,
Whose limb drags heavy with an ancient harm?
But he’s gone, either to bring forage home,
Or where he hath found some plant of healing power.
Send therefore thine attendant to look forth,
45
Lest unawares he find me. All our host
Were not so fair a prize for him as I.

Anrühren konnten: also füllt er ohne Rast
10
Und heulte, stöhnte. Doch wozu dies Alles noch
Erwähnen? Lang zu reden ist hier keine Zeit;

Resuming thy discourse, what wou'dst thou more?

, as meaning, ‘to put words into acts,’ is not a strictly correct phrase, but the verb is used here, with some poetical freedom, as if
were
: i.e.
are virtually ‘proposed deeds.’ The prose equivalent of this
would be
( Thuc. 1. 70 ). Distinguish Eur. H. F. 1305
, where the verb=
, ‘effected.’— Isocr. or. 1 § 15 has the converse maxim,
(cp. Soph. O. T. 1409 ).
