1176. mvp-comment-834-1 ὀξῦναι] Either (1) So as to provoke me to fierce utterance; or (2) Until my tongue utter fierce things; or (3) For my tongue to sharpen thee,' i. e. 'Incite thee.' The last (3) is most probable: but in support of (2) it may be observed that verbs in -ύνω are sometimes intransitive, e.g. El. 916, θάρσυνε.
