1139. mvp-comment-805-1 ἀπήμπλακε] 'She missed her aim. The chief stress is on the former part of the sentence, with which the clause with ὡς is therefore connected. ἀπήμπλακε implies, 'She did what she least of all desired to do.' τοὺς ἔνδον γάμους] 'The marriage within there,' prepared in the house, i.e. by the introduction of Iole. The sting of the offence was not merely the marriage with Iole, but the fact that she was brought home. Cp. supr. 536-546. Hyllus hints as gently as he can at the cause of trouble.
