Notes on the current edition

Aegineticus

1. A choregus was a citizen who defrayed the expenses of bringing out a chorus. It is of interest to learn that the institution of the choregia was in effect on the island of Sophnos, as it was also at Ceos.
2. These “kings” probably had only religious functions; cf. the Archon Basileus at Athens.
