1. An eminence of the Palatine hill.
2. Victress Possessor, a name of the goddess of victory, whose temple was at the foot of the Velia ( Livy, ii. 7, 12 ). According to Livy, Valerius was building the house on the Velia, but in order to allay the people’s jealousy, brought the materials to the foot of the hill, and built the house there.
