Petite île située sur la côte d’Égypte et célèbre par son fanal. Alexandre la relia au continent par une chaussée de 7 stades pour former le port d’Alexandrie. — Maréa était une ville de la baàse Égypte, à l’extrémité N. O. près de la bouche Canopique et du lac Maréotis, qui lui doit son nom.

Quartier de Memphis, ainsi appelé, dit le scholiaste, parce qu’il était construit en pierres de taille, tandis que le reste des murailles de Memphis était en briques rouges. Le Mur-Blanc servait de citadelle à la garnison que les Perses tenaient à Memphis.
